Christian Maryters
Persecution is being treated in an unfair manner or mistreated for holding religious beliefs .This all started from the Jewish religion when St Stephen was martyred. This happened because the Jewish people saw Christianity as a threat to their beliefs and identities . The Jews believed that they were the chosen ones and a person of any other religion was a gentile and not important . The Christians also separated themselves from other religion and didn't abide by the Jewish laws which infuriated them . The way Christians lived totally different not following the kosher diet and not praying in a temple . The worst offence that the Jewish hated was that Christians worshiped Jesus as a god .Which then lead to the Roman Empire persecuting the Christians because they were the rulers at the time .The Christians would often refused to serve in the roman army because they believed killing was wrong and they refused to worship the Roman gods which The Romans hated the Christians . The early Christians worshiped in secret because if a roman found
out they would all be persecuted .
A Christian martyr is a person who is killed because of their religion or other beliefs. Christians were put to death in many different ways such as stoned to death, they were often burnt at night so they would have light in the village, and they were crucified just like Jesus and sometimes cooked and dragged to death and even put in to a cage with a lion.
